CLIENT SECURITY BOARD APPROVES CLAIMS
ST. PAUL – At its November 13, 2023, meeting, the Minnesota Client Security Board approved payment of five claims, in the amount of $21,960, relating to disbarred attorney Ignatius C. Udeani and suspended attorney Darrell G. Carter.
The Board approved four claims against disbarred attorney Ignatius C. Udeani in the amount of $19,460. The Board has now approved six claims against Udeani totaling $25,500. Udeani last practiced in Bloomington. He was disbarred by the Minnesota Supreme Court in January 2023.
The Board approved one claim against suspended attorney Darrell G. Carter in the amount of $2,500. Carter last practiced in Bemidji, Minnesota. He was suspended by the Minnesota Supreme Court in June 2023.
The Client Security Fund was established by the Minnesota Supreme Court, and is funded by Minnesota attorneys to reimburse clients who suffer loss of money or other property due to the dishonest conduct of their attorney. The Fund does not cover losses resulting from negligence of lawyers. The Fund is administered by a Board appointed by the Court, and consists of five lawyer members and two non-lawyer members. All serve without compensation as a public service.
