CLIENT SECURITY BOARD APPROVES CLAIMS
ST. PAUL – At its June 23, 2025, meeting, the Minnesota Client Security Board approved payment of two claims, in the amount of $31,000, relating to suspended attorney Samuel A. McCloud and disbarred attorney Michael B. Padden.
The Board approved one claim against suspended attorney Samuel A. McCloud in the amount of $6,000. The Board has approved one claim against McCloud totaling $6,000. McCloud last practiced in Forest Lake. He was suspended by the Minnesota Supreme Court in December 2023.
The Board approved one claim against disbarred attorney Michael B. Padden in the amount of $25,000. The Board has now approved five claims against Padden totaling $63,800. Padden last practiced in Lake Elmo. He was disbarred by the Minnesota Supreme Court in August 2024.
The Client Security Fund was established by the Minnesota Supreme Court, and is funded by Minnesota attorneys to reimburse clients who suffer loss of money or other property due to the dishonest conduct of their attorney. The Fund does not cover losses resulting from negligence of lawyers. The Fund is administered by a Board appointed by the Court, and consists of five lawyer members and two non-lawyer members. All serve without compensation as a public service.
