MN Lawyer Registration Office
The office issues annual registration notices, receives registration fees from lawyers, provides public information on lawyers licensed in Minnesota, and issues lawyers’ license cards and certificates of good standing.

The Office of Lawyers Professional Responsibility
The OLPR is an agency of the Minnesota Supreme Court established to handle complaints of unprofessional conduct against Minnesota lawyers, including investigating and prosecuting complaints against attorneys warranting professional discipline.

MN Lawyers Professional Responsibility Board
The LPRB is a volunteer board appointed by the Minnesota Supreme Court and is an integral part of the lawyer discipline system. The Board, among other duties, makes probable cause determinations for public discipline, conducts reinstatement hearings, reviews appeals of non-public dispositions from the OLPR, and makes policy recommendations to the Court.

MN Board of Judicial Standards
The Board is an independent state agency that responds to complaints about Minnesota state court judges for violations of the Code of Conduct. If it is determined that a judge violated the Code, the judge may be disciplined by the Board or by the Minnesota Supreme Court.  The Board also handles judicial disability matters, issues advisory opinions, and seeks to educate judges and others about judicial ethics.

MN IOLTA Information
The purpose of the IOLTA program is to enhance the availability of civil legal services to low-income people. The Board of Civil Legal Aid administers Minnesota’s IOLTA program. Using interest earned on money that lawyer’s hold in trust for their clients, the Board of Civil Legal Aid funds numerous programs within the state that provide direct legal services to the poor and to support programs that improve the judicial system.

MN Board of Continuing Legal Education
The Board reviews course accreditation applications, tracks lawyers’ mandatory continuing legal education requirements, and recommends sanctions for noncompliance.

MN Board of Law Examiners
The Board licenses lawyers to the practice of law in Minnesota. Lawyers may be admitted by bar exam or by years of practice. The Board conducts character and fitness investigations of each applicant to the Bar.

MN Board of Legal Certification
The Board oversees the process by which lawyers in Minnesota are certified as specialists. The certification process gives the public information about certain attorneys who have earned the right to call themselves specialists in certain fields of law.

The Minnesota Judicial Branch website is a central resource for individuals and entities that have legal matters before the courts.  On this website, you can find information about the courts throughout the state, court forms for use in legal matters, and access court records, among other helpful information for the public.

The Minnesota State Bar Association promotes the highest standards of excellence and inclusion within the legal profession, provides valued resources to its members, and strives to improve the law and the equal administration of justice for all.

The Center for Professional Responsibility provides national leadership in developing and interpreting standards and scholarly resources in legal and judicial ethics, professional regulation, professionalism and client protection.
